Frequently asked questions, answered:

What’s a typical sales experience like with Modus VR?

In most instances, you’ll create the client’s room (or several variations of the room) before meeting with with them in your showroom for the demo. You and client both wear a VR headset and enter the VR theater at the same time. While in VR, you’ll go over the design and bring any challenges of the room to your client. The client will have the opportunity to ask questions and you’ll be able to make adjustments to the design in real time.

How long does it take to design a theater with Modus VR?

Once you’re proficient with the tool, most rooms will only take 20-30 minutes to make.

Can I export rooms made with Modus VR to CAD?

Sure can.

Do I need to know CAD?

Nope. It’s a simple drag and drop interface that anyone can use. If you’ve learned to send an email, learning how to use Modus VR will be a breeze.

Can I take Modus VR to a client’s home or a tradeshow?

In its current state, high-end VR isn’t travel-friendly. It requires a desktop with mounted sensors and takes a couple hours of setup. For now, we suggest not taking Modus VR into clients' homes.

We do tradeshows frequently. It takes some special considerations but can certainly be done. We're always happy to help provide guidance and share best practices.

How often do software updates occur?

We release updates to the Modus software every 4-6 weeks—another reason Modus stands out from the competition.

How will I learn how to use Modus VR? Is there training?

We offer documentation, tutorial videos, and in-VR training! Head over to the Included Support page to learn more about it.

How long is it going to take me to become proficient with the software?

The basics take about 30 minutes with most people mastering the tools within just a few hours of use.

Do you sell the necessary hardware?

We do not, but we’re happy to help point you in the right direction when you’re ready to make the purchase.

What will the cost of hardware be?

Again, we do not sell hardware, but from our experience, two correctly-spec’d computers and two VR headsets will run around $6,000 USD. Keep in mind that this is a one-time purchase and you’ll own the hardware.

Can I use my own hardware?

Yes! As long as it meets the minimum computer spec and uses a supported headset, you’re good to go!

Which VR headsets are supported?

We currently support the HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, and Oculus Rift.

Can I use phone-based VR, like Google Daydream or Samsung VR?

Not currently. Although convenient, these platforms do not have enough processing power to run Modus VR.

Will I have to constantly upgrade my computer to keep Modus VR working?

No! We work hard to ensure all our customers are running similar hardware. As long as your computer meets the minimum spec, you’ll be good to go for quite some time.
